How to Turn On and Customize Your Hotspot in Windows 10/11
A mobile hotspot allows your Windows PC to share its internet connection with other devices over Wi-Fi. Follow these steps to turn on and customize your hotspot in Windows 10 or 11.
Step 1: Open Settings
Windows 10:
Click the Start Menu (Windows icon) in the lower-left corner.
Select Settings (gear icon).
Windows 11:
Click the Start Menu (Windows icon) in the center or lower-left corner.
Select Settings (gear icon) or press Windows + I on your keyboard.
Step 2: Navigate to the Mobile Hotspot Settings
In Settings, click Network & Internet.
In the left-hand menu, select Mobile hotspot.
Step 3: Turn On Your Hotspot
Find the switch labeled Share my Internet connection with other devices.
Toggle the switch to On.
Once turned on, your PC will broadcast a Wi-Fi network that other devices can connect to.
Step 4: Customize Your Hotspot Name and Password

Under the Properties or Network name and password section, you’ll see:
Click Edit.
Enter your preferred Network name and Password.
Click Save to apply changes.
Make sure your password is at least 8 characters long for security.
Step 6: Connect Your Devices
On the device you want to connect (phone, tablet, another PC), go to Wi-Fi settings.
Look for the hotspot Network name (SSID) you set.
Enter the Network password and connect.
Step 7: Monitor and Manage Connected Devices
In the Mobile hotspot settings, you can see a list of connected devices.
Optionally, turn off the hotspot by toggling the switch back to Off when you’re finished to save battery and maintain security.
Tips for a Better Hotspot Experience
Keep your PC plugged in to avoid battery drain.
Position your PC in a central location for stronger Wi-Fi coverage.
Use a strong password to prevent unauthorized access.
